Olympics 2012 Opening Ceremony

This past Friday kicked off the 2012 Summer Olympics. The Olympics is the event of all events and this year's kickoff in London did not disappoint!

With an elaborate town scene set to depict the early beginning of Great Britain, townspeople rolled up the grassy fields as nearly 1,000 drummers entered the stadium, representing the arrival of the Industrial Revolution, while towers and smoke stacks rose from the ground. We were taken through the adventures of James Bond watching as Daniel Craig and the good Queen "herself" parachuted down for their grand entrance, through the ages of pop in the 60's, 70's, and 80's, ending as the torch was lit from horns representative of all the participating countries.

I'm not sure if anyone, even Disney, has produced as amazing a fireworks show as the one that set London on fire to conclude the Opening Ceremony!

What was your favorite part of the Opening Ceremony? (Yes, we realize David Beckham's speedboat run is probably pretty high up there!)

No Fuss Finger Foods

With all the craziness that planning an event can create, it's important to take as many steps as you can to make your life as easy as possible!

There are lots of things to think about in preparing for an event-your theme, the flowers, the music, the guest list, and much more. One of the most important things at a party, however, is the food. The food can make or break a hostess. If you decide on a menu with lots of prep work involve, you will spend more time in the kitchen than with your guests. Make your life easier by incorporating finger foods or things that don't need to be cooked directly prior to being served.

Advice Coasters

It seems like nowadays everyone has their own unsolicited advice to offer. Mom knows when you need to change your look, your friends know which guys are just right for you, and the lady at the grocery store seems to know the candy you're splurging for isn't good for you. Wouldn't it be nice if as you begin to write the next chapter of your life you could filter through and find some advice you could actually use??

These advice coasters we saw on BLHDN would be a perfect addition to your wedding celebration and a great way to keep another memory from your special day.

What is your best advice to a new bride and groom? Or maybe any advice you wish you'd been able to toss out yourself?

Girls Night In: Chalkboard Wine Glasses

Everyone knows there's almost nothing better than getting together with your girlfriends to share stories and a glass of wine. Next time you have your girlfriends over, make cocktails even more fun with these easy to make chalkboard wine glasses we found on Just Short of Crazy.

Step 1: Pour chalkboard paint into a tupperware large enough to dip the base of a wine glass in.

Let the excess paint drip off before moving the glass.

Step 2: Put parchment paper down before placing glasses to dry. You can either prop glasses up like so, or place the glasses on the parchment paper to dry.

*Tip: If you place them on the parchment paper, move the glasses every 20 minutes or so to ensure no excess paint attaches to them.

Once dry, fill and enjoy!

What do you all think of this idea? Would this not make your next glass of wine even more fun?!?

Always your little girl

Reflecting back on Mother's Day and Father's Day, we couldn't help but think about how important our parents really are. Throughout our lives, mom and dad have been there every step of the way. They've been there to catch tears from first break-ups, tickled you until you cry, and shed tears of pride at their kids' greatest accomplishments.

That being said, tears are an integral part of every wedding. Mostly there are tears of joy and tears from laughter. There are also tears from parents when they let go of their baby. A wedding is a big day for the bride and groom, but it's also a big day for their parents. Don't forget about mom and dad the day of!

A picture like this would make such a sweet gift for mom and dad after the wedding!

These handkerchiefs we found on Etsy could bring a tear to any parents eye, but will be sure to catch them when they fall throughout the day!

What are some sentimental ways you've seen parents included in some of the weddings you've been to?

Congratulations Cat Pollard & Darrius Demps!

A gorgeous day and a gorgeous bride made for one absolutely gorgeous wedding. We love all of our brides and working with Cat was no exception. This fashionista's glamorous wedding at the Hippodrome was stunning! Married on a stage set to display the excitement of New York City, Cat wrote her own happily ever after and finished this screenplay with "I Do!"

Introducing...Noche de Gala 2013!

For the past four years we have had the honor of designing Noche de Gala, a night to honor the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation and their efforts to raise money to build a full-service, state-of-the-art children's hospital in Gainesville, Florida.

We are proud to introduce the theme for this year: Noche de Gala Azul!

Is anyone else as excited as we are for this year's event???

Frozen Fruit Skewers

Summertime is hott! While ice cream is a good go-to for a cool-down treat, it's kind of been done. Try these fruit skewers we saw on The Party Dress instead at your next party to refresh your guests! These would be great for kids and adults alike! Add your skewer to other fruit juices, water, or for the adults, maybe even your champagne. After all, who says strawberries get to be the only fruit that gets to be paired with the sparkling indulgence?

What kind of fruit/beverage combos would you make??
